I actually hit a Bitcoin Cash (BCH) block using RENTED hashrate!

I spent about $350 to rent roughly 20 PH/s of hashrate for around 9 hours through Braiins Hashpower, pointed it at a Bitcoin Cash solo pool, and somehow found a block during the rental.

The block paid about 3.1 BCH, which was worth roughly $800+ at the time of recording.

In this video, I go through exactly why I decided to rent the hashrate, how much I spent, the amount of PH/s I rented, the estimated odds of finding a BCH block, and what happened when the block was finally found.

I also compare the much smaller Bitcoin Cash network to Bitcoin and explain why I decided to try BCH instead of attempting the same strategy with Bitcoin.

I'm back in the OG Red Panda Mining basement where my crypto-mining journey really started!

This basement has gone through years of GPU mining, ASIC mining, and countless mining rigs — but now it's time for a complete transformation.

I'm clearing everything out, getting ready for fiber internet, and seriously considering upgrading this basement from 200 amps to **400 amp electrical service**.

The bigger question is what I'm going to do with all that power.

I'm DONE with running ASIC miners in this basement. The plan is to eventually focus on **AI GPUs and GPU mining**, with server racks and a completely new setup.

But there's one huge problem...

*How am I going to cool all of this?*

I'm also talking about my current electricity rate, the potential savings from moving to a general service rate, the cost of the 400 amp upgrade, my plans for server racks, and why residential ASIC mining is becoming increasingly difficult at my current power rate.

I bought this Goldshell SC5 Pro for around $500… and then someone rented it for Bitcoin Blake2B on Mining Rig Rentals.

Over roughly 14 days, this little 11 TH/s ASIC generated a total of *0.3108082 BTC*, which was worth around *$25,000 at the time of recording*.

This was easily one of the craziest mining rentals I've ever experienced. The miner was rented continuously for days, but I also had some terrifying moments — including several hours of downtime and a power outage with only about 24 hours remaining on the rental.

I eventually received the payout, and now the SC5 Pro is no longer on Mining Rig Rentals. Instead, I've connected it to my own Bitcoin Knots / DATUM setup and I'm now attempting to solo mine Bitcoin Blake2B myself.

GPU mining is suddenly looking VERY interesting again…

In this video, I go through the GPUs I currently have mining and show you what they're earning right now. I have 30× RTX 3070s, RTX 20-series GPUs, and several 170HX GPUs mining, with everything going through Kryptex and paid out in Bitcoin.

Right now, I'm making roughly $150–$159/day from my GPUs, with the 170HX cards being some of the biggest winners.

Pearl has been on a massive run, and GPU mining profitability has followed. I also take a look at Quantus, Pearl's rising hash rate, the 170HX's incredible efficiency, and why I think GPU mining profitability may eventually attract a lot more hash rate.

I'm also getting my 170HX GPUs modified for PCIe x16, which will allow me to eventually transition many of these cards from GPU mining into AI inference workloads.

Today ...we're checking out the NEW Magic Miner HQ01 — a compact Bitcoin miner capable of up to 50 TH/s, with multiple power modes and surprisingly low power consumption.

At the lowest power mode, I'm getting around 30 TH/s while pulling roughly 450–470W at the wall. That makes this an interesting option for home Bitcoin mining, especially if you can actually use the heat it produces.

I also flashed the HQ01 with Harlo Labs OS and tested its features, including ASIC tuning, fan control, scheduled tasks, Stratum testing, and something I really like — the ability to split your hash rate across FOUR different mining pools.

For this test, I solo mined Bitcoin to:
• My local Umbrel public pool
• Atlas Pool
• CKPool
• Mining Dutch

I also tested the higher-power modes, including 40+ TH/s and 50 TH/s. The 50 TH/s mode gets HOT very quickly, eventually triggering the miner's overheating protection, so I would only consider that mode in a very cold environment.

The 30 TH/s mode is where I think this miner really makes sense for home use. You're getting Bitcoin mining while also producing around 450W of usable heat.

The HQ01 is currently listed around $799 for the upcoming batch, although earlier batches were available for less.

I’ve been testing ...the 12 TH/s Octaxe Hydro Bitcoin miner for over 6 days, and this thing is definitely one of the coolest-looking small Bitcoin miners I’ve tested.

The Octaxe Hydro uses a water-cooling system with dual radiators and pumps, a 350W Mean Well power supply, XT60 connection with a 35A fuse, and runs on Wi-Fi with no Ethernet connection. I’m also solo mining Bitcoin to my own local node to see how consistently this 12 TH/s miner performs.

At around 224W, the Octaxe Hydro is running at roughly 18–19 J/TH. It may not match the efficiency of newer and more expensive Bitcoin miners, but the hydro cooling, compact design, and relatively low power consumption make this an interesting small-scale solo miner.

I’ll also go over whether the $440 USD price makes sense, the older BM1370 ASIC chips, stock overclock settings, temperatures, and whether you should consider solo mining Bitcoin or other SHA-256 coins such as Bitcoin Cash.

GPU mining is profitable again?! After shutting down and leaving a huge amount of my GPU mining hardware sitting around, I’m finally turning some of my old rigs back on.

Pearl & Quantus is currently making GPU mining interesting again, and some of my 170HX GPUs are doing extremely well. I’m also testing my old CMP210 and BC160 rigs, dealing with a VERY dirty GPU mining rig, and finding out which hardware is actually worth running right now.

My 170HX rig is currently making around $22/day while using roughly 1.5 kW, while the BC160 rig is making only around $3/day. I’ve also got more GPUs sitting around that could potentially be brought back online.

But does that mean I recommend getting into GPU mining again?

Probably not.

If you already own the GPUs, motherboards, risers, frames, CPUs and power infrastructure, the numbers can make sense right now. But buying everything from scratch just because GPU mining has become profitable again is a completely different story.

I’ll keep testing these old rigs and see how long this profitability lasts.
